Our research focuses on bioanalytical, biomaterial, and biophysical studies at molecular and cellular levels, with emphases on high-speed and high-sensitivity chemical separations, laser-based studies of neuronal development and communication, and design of sensor arrays. The group is comprised of scientists of diverse backgrounds, including analytical/physical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, and biomedical engineering, with technological expertise in capillary electrophoresis, materials science, microscopy, and other optical methods, including laser tweezers and multiphoton-promoted photofabrication. A detailed description of our current interests can be found at our web site, http://research.cm.utexas.edu/jshear/.Representative Publications
