Administration
How to get keys
- When first arriving at U.T., you will need to get keys to the building where your lab is located, and keys to your lab. Some supervising professors will also want you to have access to other areas of their program, so be sure and check with them when you have officially joined a research group.
- You will be issued two or more keys: one for the building and one for your lab and desk area.
- The Graduate Office will give you a blank key permit, having only the professor’s name corresponding with your temporary desk assignment.
- Take this blank key permit to your professor’s administrative associate. If you do not know their name and location, check the Department Directory, or with the Graduate Office.
- After the Administrative Associate has filled in pertinent information, have the professor to whom you are temporarily assigned sign the key permit. There should be two key areas listed: building and lab.
- Take the permit to the Chairman’s office (WEL 2.310) for an additional signature.
- Once the key permit is filled out properly (must be typed) and signed, take to the Service Building (SER101) to get key request filled. This building is on the north side of 24th Street, in between Speedway and San Jacinto. You must have a photo ID with you before they will issue any keys.
